Meet the Maker Hillary Murphy and Deborah Murphy, of The Grate Plate. They are a mother and daughter family business, and they make their plates together using stoneware ceramic and lead-free, food safe glazes.

While it may look simple, their unique design took over a year to create. Through trial and error, they have designed the best grating surface that doesn't hurt your fingers.

They started selling their graters at local farmer’s markets around the Portland area in 2015, and have been rapidly expanding ever since. Their product really resonates with everyone from the foodie to the conscious mom trying to make healthy, fresh food for her family.

Multi-Purpose. The Grate Plate is used to finely grate garlic, ginger root, nutmeg, chocolate, pickles for relish, hard cheeses, and more into a fine puree unlocking all the flavor. The Grate Plate is perfect for making and serving variety of sauces, dips, marinades and gravies!

The ridges of The Grate Plate are strong enough to grate, yet soft enough on your fingers. The hexagonal shape is intended to fit comfortably in your hand while grating your food of choice.

Easy to Use. Moisten The Grate Plate with water or oil. Hold the root of garlic clove and move in any direction to generate a fine garlic paste. Grate your garlic, mix with olive oil, and serve with fresh bread for an easy crowd pleasing dip.
